Melissa Strickler

I am an artist and iconographer, living in Lander, Wyoming. I spend my creative hours in my studio, and welcome others to stop by Sacred Wind Studio to make or talk art.

My artwork is mainly inspired by my beliefs and life experiences, which continue to grow and evolve. Also since childhood my art has been influenced by dream images, that come to me while at rest.

At this stage of my artistic journey my vision is challenging me to see and make art differently. I am leaning into even more light and color,…I can never have too much color. Melissa

She Doesn’t Give a Flying Leap

Mixed Media

This artwork was created for a current Steampunk Exhibition.

During the time the Victorian Era and Industrial Revolution collided, what would an individual find to be futuristic?

I think a winged female bison would be something rather fantastical, seeing her fly over the prairie, tiara teetering in the wind.

MELISSA STRICKLER • Yellow Man

Yellow Man, Dam Square. Acrylic

Years ago my family was visiting Amsterdam, and we spent time in Dam Square, a central hub of activity in the city.

This Yellow Man, as we fondly named him, was literally yellow from head to toe. He stood on a small box, summoning people in the crowd to come forward.

Children, including my own, were not in the least fearful of him, but instead wanted to be close to this charismatic soul, and hear what he had to say.

Melissa Strickler • St. Gobnait

As a beekeeper and someone involved with the healing ministry for years, St. Gobnait ( pronounced something like Gub Nut) drew me to in several years ago.
